Gillian O`Shea- Senior Carer

Hi, my name is Gillian and I have been working in Amberley Home since 2015, I am qualified FETAC level 5 Senior Carer. I have been supporting Activities since 2018. My job is to plan and coordinate Activities with Activity staff for residents in Amberley Home.

Stimulating Residents is quite challenging as no one person, so we welcome any inputs from the residents themselves and their families and rely on that information and their life stories to try and make the daily activities interesting. And believe me, I learn more from them than they do from me and I love it.

Activities in Amberley

At Amberley home we have a full schedule of activities, with two activities coordinators and we encourage residents to regularly participate in social and leisure activities. We also invite family members to take part, especially with music and special events. These include:

We are also looking into the following: Snoezelan – multi-sensory therapy, Pet therapy , Creative writing, Poetry reading, Spirituality sessions and any activity that will be of benefit to the residents
